Where Curiosity Meets Discovery

Research pushes boundaries. In a world where so much information is instantly accessible, research challenges us to ask and answer questions others haven’t considered.

Undergraduate research is a critical part of the experience at Hendrix College. And like so much of your experience here, it is collaborative. Whether you assist faculty with their research or pursue your own projects under their guidance, you can take the theories and concepts learned in class and put them into practice — contributing to discoveries that the world can build on.

Hendrix Undergraduate Research Experiences

Research does not just happen in a lab, and it is not limited to a single discipline. Hendrix students pursue original research across the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and arts. They have investigated how COVID-19 affected the college experience, conducted archival research that deepens our understanding of history, and worked alongside faculty on scientific discoveries.

At Hendrix, research takes many forms, including fieldwork, independent study, creative scholarship, and community-based research. Whichever you pursue, you will work closely with faculty who will help you refine your questions, strengthen your methods, and generate valuable insights.

Why Should You Pursue Student Research Projects?

Research is challenging. That is exactly why you should do it. It takes you beyond the textbook and opens a real-time window into the world as it is.
