Application Process
Application
To apply to Hendrix, use the Hendrix application or the Common App.
Transcripts
High School Transcripts
All applicants must submit a final transcript from their high school, representing courses completed in grades 9-12. Unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of application, but official transcripts must be received for all enrolling students. To submit your official transcript, request this through your high school. They are welcome to contact our team at admission@hendrix.edu with any questions.
College / University Transcripts
We require a transcript from each college or university you have attended. Failure to report attendance at another institution, whether or not credit was granted, may result in dismissal from Hendrix. Unofficial transcripts are accepted at the time of application, but official transcripts must be received for all enrolling students. To submit your official transcript, request one from your prior institution’s registrar. They are welcome to contact our team at admission@hendrix.edu with any questions.
ACT / SAT Scores
Hendrix College offers a test-optional path to admission. If you believe your ACT or SAT score is a solid reflection of your ability, we encourage you to submit it! Submitting these scores is not a requirement, and opting not to submit scores does not negatively impact an applicant.
Optional: Official ACT or SAT Test Scores. You can self-report your test scores. We do superscore!
- Hendrix ACT code: 0128
- Hendrix SAT code: 6273
Transfer Credits
Once we have received your college transcript(s) and your completed application for admission, an evaluation of credits will be completed by the Office of the Registrar.
Transfer credit can be accepted subject to the following conditions and restrictions:
- Courses offered for transfer must be taken at a regionally-accredited institution.
- The courses must be comparable in academic quality to Hendrix courses.
- Transfer credit will be considered only for courses in which the grade of “C” or better is recorded.
- Courses must be the equivalent of at least 3 semester hours.
- “Credit” or “pass” grades will not be accepted in transfer.
If a course is accepted for credit, it will be counted as “transfer credit.” No grade points from such transfer courses will be calculated in the Hendrix grade point average.
For incoming transfer students, one credit will be awarded for every four semester-hours of accepted transfer work, rounding to the nearest whole credit. Once a student has matriculated at Hendrix, one credit will be awarded for every accepted transfer course, provided the transfer course carries at least three semester-hours of academic weight. Transfer credit must originate from courses taken at an accredited institution, and those courses must appear on the student’s transcript from the originating institution. No transfer credit is awarded for courses that have been applied toward an earned baccalaureate degree.
Residency Requirements
A student must successfully complete a minimum of 16 courses at Hendrix. Six of the final eight courses counted toward graduation must originate from Hendrix or institutions which are in direct, formal institutional exchange agreements with Hendrix. Additionally, at least 50 percent of all major and minor requirements must be fulfilled from course work taken in residence at Hendrix College.
Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Program
To receive credit for advanced placement examinations, transfer students must have the original scores sent to Hendrix from College Board. To receive credit for International Baccalaureate, please have original scores sent to Hendrix by the International Baccalaureate testing agency.
