Master of Arts in Accounting

Admission Requirements

Completion of a bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting, Economics, or Economics and Business is required for admission to the master’s program.

Recommended undergraduate course preparation includes:

• Accounting Principles I & II
• Business Statistics
• Corporate Finance
• Macroeconomics
• Microeconomics

At least three upper-level Accounting courses such as:

• Accounting Information Systems
• Auditing
• Cost Accounting
• Federal Tax Accounting
• Intermediate Accounting I & II

CPA Exam Requirements

Because CPA exam requirements vary by state, students should be informed of the prerequisites required by the state in which they plan to take the exam. The state of Arkansas requires 150 semester hours for licensure. The Hendrix M.A. in Accounting program will provide 32 semester hours toward that total.

How to Apply

To apply you will need to submit the following items. Admission preference will be given to applicants who submit their applications prior to February 15.

• Application for Admission
• Official transcripts from each and all colleges or universities attended*
• Dean of Student Affairs Recommendation*
• Three (3) letters of recommendation or recommendation forms (available in the application portal). Hendrix students only need two (2) recommendations.
• An official copy of your GMAT scores sent directly from Educational Testing Service*
• Application fee of $50 payable to Hendrix College*

Campus Visits

The best way to picture yourself at Hendrix is to experience it in person. During your campus visit, you’ll have the chance to explore campus, connect with current students and faculty, and even sit in on a class to get a feel for the Hendrix experience.

Transfer Credits

Transfer credit for graduate courses may be accepted subject to the following conditions and restrictions:

• Courses offered for transfer must be taken at an accredited institution.
• The courses must be comparable in academic quality to Hendrix courses.
• Transfer credit will be considered only for courses in which the grade of “C” or better is recorded.
• “Credit” or “Pass” grades will not be accepted in transfer.
• If a course is accepted for credit, it will be counted as transfer credit. No grade points from such transfer courses will be calculated in the Hendrix grade point average.
• No more than two graduate courses may be transferred.
• Hendrix baccalaureates who obtain special permission may take a maximum of two courses at the 500 level for later use in the master’s program.
• Correspondence school transfer work is not accepted.
